Each week, you’ll explore new topics, art theory, art history, themes and techniques. The course is designed to build good practice habits and allow your imagination and creativity to flow through weekly activities, exercises and topics.
Enjoy friendly and engaging art classes where you will feel at ease while your teacher will ensure you have the very best of advice and practical guidance in all aspects of art.
Suitable for the complete painting and drawing novice as well as people who have created art before - there is something for everyone to learn and enjoy. Taught in a well-paced, step-by-step format in small group interactive online live classes.
Classes are led by experienced artist and accredited visual art teacher, Marianne Mettes.

Sketching and composition
Basic art theory
Explore art history themes
Colour mixing
Explore various art making materials
Colour theory
Brush and paint techniques
Finishing touches, framing and presentation
Materials:
Use your own art materials OR shop from a curated list of materials at affordable prices from recommended retailers. Purchase a full set of materials from under $40.
A3 canvas paper (thick paper, at least 200GSM)
A4 visual art journal
Water jar (for cleaning the brushes)
Palette for mixing paint (e.g. lid of a yogurt container)
Assorted brushes
Sketching materials: pencils, charcoal, eraser, sharpener
Acrylic paints (basic set)
Watercolours (basic set)
Black fine felt tipped pen(s)
Recycled cereal boxes

Experience/prerequisites: No experience required. This course is suitable for adult learners only (ages 16+). Students will be required to have a webcam and microphone enabled.

A quiet space with minimal background noise

Table/desk space for painting (use newspapers to protect surfaces)
